Progress Over Politics

A New Generation of Leadership

What We Do

Elect Zach Smith for Congress is a self-funding campaign drive that aims to support the candidacy of Zach Smith as congressman for the 12th Congressional District of Florida. He is an underdog candidate fighting against the political machine and running against an incumbent who, between him and his father, have held the same seat for more than 35 years.

We do not accept donations, money or in kind, from special interest groups.

Who is Zach Smith?

Since childhood, I have always found a fascination with government and the world of politics. Born in 1989, I’ve had the pleasure to live and see many places within these great United States. From being born in Phoenix, Arizona, to growing up in Oregon, and enjoying the taste of the American South, Nashville.

While growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I was immediately enthralled with our armed forces. Of course, like any child of the 1980’s and 90’s, GI Joes were my initial introduction. From this inspiration, I joined the Civil Air Patrol during my high school years, and quickly rose through the ranks to become the cadet commander.

This was the first eye opening experience to the workings of our military, and the introduction to a new found patriotism. We were able to experience great things for kids of such a young age. From practicing formations, flying airplanes and gliders, to working with the famous Howard Hughes Spruce Goose.

While the history of this monument, and genius of American engineering has many chapters, it continues in my mind to this day.

From the experiences I held as a high school student with the Civil Air Patrol, I joined the United States Army in 2008. I was sent to Fort Benning, Georgia (Home of the Infantry), and later posted at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Learning and working with some of the finest soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division. I understood the impact military life can take on a person.

The trials that one experiences in protection of their country and democracy is a right that each and every one of us was and continue to be proud to bear.

After receiving an honorable discharge, I decided to stay close to “home.” I moved not too far from Fort Campbell to Nashville. From residing in Kentucky for the duration of my enlistment, I became very accustomed to the southern way of life. The real passion came out of a community that fostered kindness, hospitality, and dignity.

While in Nashville, I was lucky to be joined by my family from Oregon. From there, we made the joint decision to move to the great

state of Florida.

Becoming a Florida transplant was one of the best decisions I have made. I was able to take up a trade and become a HVAC Technician in 2015. This was a great way to learn my new surroundings by traveling all over the greater Tampa Bay area. In 2016, I met the woman who was to become my wife. Our romance flourished, and we were ultimately married on November 11, 2017 surrounded by our loving friends

and family.

Veterans Day was an excellent day to be married as it was a celebration of our marriage, and remembrance of our fallen brothers and sisters who protected our freedom to enjoy our union.

Since our marriage, we have been blessed with a daughter who was born in October 2018. She is a bright and independent girl with the world in front of her. This was the eye opener I needed, to come forth and join the race to represent our district in the House of Representatives.

Being a family man, member of society, and patriot, I want to help create the future for our children. Create the future for our veterans and allow for more collaboration in the government by allowing in new and fresh ideas to help us grow.

I look forward to welcoming all of you into my family, and working to foster new ideas to create a bright future.
